The Sweco SentryScan System alerts Separator operators to the potential for compromised screening performance by detecting when a tear in the screen has occurred. The SentryScan is a retrofit accessory that can improve your screening operation by guarding against costs associated with:

• Reprocessing or downgrading of off-spec product

• Contamination or overloading of downstream equipment

• Customer complaints and product recalls

Patent pending SentryScan technology takes advantage of the fact that wire screens pose a natural barrier to the transmission of microwave energy. When a tear occurs in the screen (creating an elongated opening), microwave signals pass through the tear and are picked up by the receiver, which in turn alerts the operator.

Because an intact screen significantly attenuates the signal, the receiver positioned on the other side of the screen measures only a relatively low baseline power level. When a significant tear occurs in the screen, the SentryScan wave signal passes through the tear and is instantly detected by the receiver on the other side of the screen. Receiver output is monitored by the SentryScan Control Box that has visual and audible alarms as well as PLC compatible outputs. Tear detection resolution and accuracy is a function of operational factors specific to the application.
