Ventura Coastal Lemon Solves Bulk Sugar Screening Problem With New Sweco Separator
Problem:
As a result of the growing popularity of frozen concentrated fruit and vegetable juices, Ventura Coastal Lemon Company, Ventura, California purchases sugar in bulk instead of sacks or bags. Ventura Coastal Lemon sought a fast screening operation that would enable them to maintain their plant-wide standards for sanitation and cleanliness in all processing steps.
Solution:
The company now uses a Sweco separator (18" diameter) to insure high quality of processed sugar. Screen cloths include: 10-mesh, .0742 opening and 16-mesh, .0535 opening for granular cleansing.
Results:
The present installation at Ventura Coastal Lemon screens 9000 pounds of bulk sugar per hour (six 25-lb. batches per minute). The Sweco separator has made it possible to maintain high quality in sugar processing at this company.
