Karagheusian Solves Dye Vat Waste Water Screening With Sweco Separators
Problem:
A. & M. Karagheusian, Inc., Albany, Georgia are the world famous makers of the Gulistan Tufted Carpet. These carpets are made of all fibers associated with floor coverings: 100% imported wool, cotton and blends of viscose and nylon. Keeping ahead of Georgia Waste Control policies, Karagheusian, Inc., wished to efficiently remove lint from their dye vat waste water. Lint and lint balls comprise 2% by volume of their dye vate waste water.
Solution:
The company installed two Sweco separators (48" diameter) together with 40 mesh, .0150" opening, screen cloth in each. Both of these units are made of stainless steel with teflon gaskets on the tension rings.
Results:
Using a 30 degree angle lead adjustment, plus 3 bottom weight plates, Karagheusian operators now obtain efficient removal of lint from dye vat waste water. A capacity of 450 gallons per minute can be handled by the separator installation.
