Ocean Spray Gets 400% Longer Life Using Sweco Magnum Screens

FLORENCE, KY - Sweco's patented Magnum screens have lasted over 4 times longer than the screens previously used to clarify wastewater at Ocean Spray's Middleboro, Massachusetts plant according to Sweco Aftermarket Manager, Jim Studebaker.

Ocean Spray recycles the wastewater from their juice processing using a Magnum Screen to separate the cranberry skins from the waste where Middleboro Plant Manager Ed Piccone states, "We used to replace the screen used in our juice processing about every 6 months to a year, but the Sweco Magnum Screen we installed back in 2000 has lasted 4 years and is still running strong. That has really reduced our downtime and maintenance cost".

As a result of the Magnum Screen's success screening wastewater, Ocean Spray installed a second Magnum screen to separate the liquid and solids in the sludge generated by their wastewater facility. The screens used prior to the Magnum for sludge had to be replaced about every 4-6 months, but the Magnum Screen has been functioning for two years now and is still doing a very good job.

The Magnum Screen features advanced mesh fusion, which divides the screen into discrete zones, adding strength and preventing propagation of most tears. The mesh fusion also enhances flow rates by stiffening the screen surface, which improves solids conveying. Available in 18 to 60 inch round and all sizes of rectangular and white water filter screens, the Magnum utilizes standard Sweco screen frames and FDA approved materials.
