Sweco Opens New Manufacturing Facility in Shanghai, China
Florence, KY (May 18, 2007) - Brenda Beers-Reineke, President of Sweco announced the Grand Opening of this new Sweco Manufacturing Facility on March 14, 2007 in Shanghai, China. The ceremony in Shanghai was witnessed by notable attendees from Sweco's parent company, M-I SWACO, including Don McKenzie, President & CEO, and also a key management group of Sweco.
The 16,000 square foot manufacturing facility is located in Maqiao which is 40 minutes south of Shanghai in a new Industrial Park. This plant will initially manufacture selected screens currently being manufactured in Florence and shipped to Singapore. Plans for the future include a more diversified product line and will support the China and Eastern Asia markets. The Sweco Asia Managing Director, James Wong, says, "This new facility allows us to better serve our customers in China and countries in East Asia. Together with our facilities in India and Singapore, it geographically completes Sweco's establishment in the entire Asia market. We are confident Sweco's business will continue to expand in this growing market".
The ceremony marked the opening of the 12th manufacturing location for Sweco around the world. Other locations include Florence, Kentucky, USA (Headquarters); Macon, Georgia, USA; Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA; Nivelles, Belgium (Europe Headquarters); Edinburgh, Scotland; Berra, Italy; Wronki, Poland; Mumbai, India; Singapore (Asia Headquarters); Tlalnepantla, Mexico; and Victoria, Australia.
