Juice enters the top screen and flows through to the bottom. The top screen separates out the larger seeds and portions of rag; the second screen separates the desirable large juice sacs and passes the small embryo seeds and undesirable fine pulp; these latter are caught by the third fine mesh screen. The SWECO Separators are able to provide a higher quality juice by eliminating various stages of the process which necessitated pressure and maceration of the pulp. APPLICATION 2: Manufacturers of various breakfast cereals require a method to remove oversize and undersize pieces to obtain a more uniform finished product. The top deck of each SWECO Separator is used to remove all of the large pieces and discard the pieces that are stuck together. Additionally, the lower deck removes all of the fine particles that cause problems in the equipment further along in cereal processing. APPLICATION 3: Canneries of shrimp meat remove the hulls and heads with automatic peeling machines. The meat is then processed and canned for food markets around the world. The shrimp hulls and heads are then discharged with the wastewater. Canners looked to reclaiming the solids for possible resale value as well as stop the stream contamination problem. The wastewater stream goes directly to the SWECO Separator for dewatering and solids removal. The hulls and heads are then dried, ground and sold to fertilizer manufacturers as an additive because of the high protein value they contain.
